8. Why my archivelet is not showing up in the search service ? |
There are various reasons:the most possible one is due to schedule of our harvester, the harvester polls each archivelet in sequences and it may sleep a while between each round of harvest, so be patient ;-). Another possible reason is your archivelet is behind a NAT (Network Address Translation) proxy or firewall, which prohibits harvester to contact archivelet. And if these scenarios don't fit well with your situation, please contact us with detailed information (kepler@list.odu.edu) |
9. Port Forwarding/Mapping ? |
In most home/small business networks and in many Intranets, the local network access the Internet through a NAT/Proxy. This may be done for sharing of the Internet connection among multiple machines or for purpose of security. Requests from the outside world (Internet) to servers running on a machine behind a NAT/Proxy can't get to the destination machine unless the NAT/Proxy is configured to allow this access. This is what is called port forwarding. Almost all routers provide web browser access to the router configuration where you can establish port forwarding. Consult the router manuals if you have access to the router. If you are on a corporate LAN and your machine is behind a NAT/Proxy, you will need the network administrator to do it for you. After establishing the port forwarding you will need to update two pieces of information to the correct value: The external port and the external IP.) |
